Choose the Way the Bathroom Sink Will Be Mounted - A clean, sleek look is achieved with a solid-surface integrated sink. A flush-mount sink also gives a sleek look. An under-mount sink is installed under the countertop, resulting in a smooth, easy to clean counter surface. A top-mount sink rests over the top of the counter. This is the easiest style for the do-it-yourselfer to install. A traditional style has the bowl set on a pedestal or stand.

Second Sinks – If you’re feeling confined by one sink, or have too many “cooks” trying to cook or prep at the same time, you might want to consider a second sink, of which there are three basic types: prep sinks, bar sinks, and entertainment sinks.

A prep sink, or utility sink, is often a smaller version of the main kitchen sink. Placed at the opposite end of the kitchen work triangle, it helps to maximize the space of the kitchen, eliminating extra steps from the refrigerator or stove to the sink.

A bar sink is a great way to make entertaining easier and more fun. The bar area may be located in another room, but contain the same or similar cabinets and counters as the kitchen to tie the designs together.

Different from the sink, the entertainment sink is typically used in the kitchen, either on an island, or at a seated counter area. The entertainment sink can be used to keep food and beverages cool, and out in the open for guests coming into the area.

Kitchen Islands – Nothing adds more “wow” to a kitchen redesign than an island, especially one that gives you extra space to cook, perhaps a second sink, and even an island refrigerator. If you intend to cook on your kitchen center island, we advise you to add a ventilation hood or your kitchen will be brimming with cooking odors.

Another option is a wine refrigerator. Talk about the height of luxury! Unlike a normal refrigerator, a wine chiller runs a little warmer. This way it can maintain the optimum temperature for wine, which is 55 degrees.
